The details... The
original purpose behind the development of the Master Class Series was
to bring Masters Teachers who are

currently
training or working
with professional dancers (classical ballet, contemporary dance,
character/folk, modern/experimental etc.) to AZ. We have found
that many young dancers who need the exposure and
experience of such
an opportunity are unable to do so (for various reasons including
financial difficulties, short summer holidays due to year‐round school
schedules etc.). We wish to provide students with these kinds
of
training opportunities which are so vital to their continued
development. This is also a wonderful chance for students to make
contacts with influential people in the field in which they have
chosen to participate. The
backbone of the program is structured around classical ballet training.
However, with all forms and techniques of dance now not only merging in
professional dance companies, but across the board in all genres,
we
also

include a strong contemporary presence in the program as
well. This provides the classical basis so necessary to aspiring
contemporary dancers, and the modern/contemporary sensibility that is
an absolute requirement of professional dance today.
SCDI has
positioned itself to be a proponent of well‐focused and rigorous
training program for its students in the rapidly growing
AZ dance communiwy which has lacked adequate ballet
training in the past in its offerings in the commercial dance studio arena. Our aim was
to create a solid foundation for the understanding of movement,
expression and artistry, and also provide an understanding for
students about physical fitness, training and injury
prevention/treatment within the dance‐training environment. SCDI also
has at its heart, a spirit of collaboration essential not only
for continued success, but also for a multi‐faceted approach to dance
training; we work closely with our partner schools/studios to provide
the basis of ballet training upon which these schools can build and
increase their repertoire.
